Upgrading Your WAF Plan
Overview
ExpeditedWAF plans are managed through the Heroku dashboard as a Heroku add-on. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Plan changes take effect immediately with no downtime.
Available Plans

Log Retention
Each plan includes a retention window for raw request logs — the individual blocked-request entries you can search and filter on the Block Logs page. Entries older than your plan’s retention window are permanently removed.
Aggregate traffic statistics (the charts and trend data on the Block Logs page) are retained indefinitely on all plans, so long-term traffic history remains visible even after individual log entries expire.
Upgrading your plan immediately extends your retention window going forward. However, log entries that have already been purged under a previous plan’s shorter window are not recoverable.
How to Change Your Plan
- Log in to the Heroku Dashboard
- Navigate to your app
- Click Resources in the top navigation
- Find ExpeditedWAF in the add-ons list and click on it
- Click Change Plan (or Modify)
- Select your desired plan tier
- Confirm the change
What to Expect
- No downtime — Plan changes are applied immediately without any interruption to your site
- Prorated billing — Heroku prorates charges, so you only pay for the time on each plan
- Feature availability — New features associated with the higher plan become available right away
- Downgrades — If you downgrade, features exclusive to the higher plan will be removed at the end of the current billing cycle
